About the Guillotine Choke Series
At the Freestyle Fighting Academy in Miami, the guillotine became an obsession. When David Avellan and his brother first built the FFA monthly curriculum, the guillotine was the move of the month — and the results were immediate, with pro MMA fighters and grapplers finishing with it within weeks.
One student, blue belt Devin Genchi, took it the furthest: he created his own variation — the "Genchitine" — and submitted a Popovitch black belt with it in under 60 seconds. That's when David realized the guillotine wasn't just a move, but a complete system of attacking the neck that could be taught to anyone. The Guillotine Choke Series is that system: 39 techniques across setups, finishes, escapes, and counters.
